A-SAFE joined some of the UK’s best-performing manufacturing companies at the fifth annual Made in the UK Awards event on 22nd June, where businesses from ten regions compete nationally to be recognised for excellence in the manufacturing sector.
The national awards follow on from regional award ceremonies, held earlier in the year. The winners from each region then went head-to-head in the same category at a national awards ceremony.
The safety guardrail specialist won the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Award – in a category described by judges as a ‘fiercely tight contest’. A-SAFE were originally shortlisted in the Yorkshire regional awards because of their unique focus on innovation and exceptional export growth, accounting for over 75 percent of its total business profits in 2016.
The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation category gave businesses a chance to present a new product innovation as part of their awards entry. A-SAFE chose to showcase RackEyeTM, a combined device, remote app and digital dashboard that provides around-the-clock, real-time monitoring of racking structures, alerting users remotely when damage is detected so they can intersect and take action. The industry first is set to revolutionise the way warehouses manage critical racking structures.
The Made in the UK ceremony was held at the Titanic Hotel on Liverpool’s waterfront, sponsored by the Department for International Trade and hosted by TV personality Gethin Jones.
The win comes at an exciting and positive time for A-SAFE, after they were also shortlisted in HSBC’s International Track 200, a nationally recognised league table that ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.
Co-Owner and Director of A-SAFE James Smith commented: “We are so pleased to win the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Award within our region, let alone at the national awards. We’re delighted with all the recent recognition we’ve received, from being listed in the Sunday Times Export Track for the third consecutive year in a row, to recently being ranked in the HSBC International Track 200. It’s been an incredibly positive month for A-SAFE.”
