Safety in design for new retail distribution centre

A global construction company, contracted on behalf of one of the largest French supermarket retailers in the world, operating in over 30 countries internationally.

SITUATION

For a new retail distribution centre in France, contractors called on A-SAFE’s expertise to design in safety and ensure the fresh food supply facility was protected from the start. The site required specific solutions to safeguard vulnerable doorways and equipment in high traffic areas – preventing recurring maintenance costs and the potential for personnel injury.

SOLUTION

A-SAFE specified, manufactured, supplied and installed the iFlex traffic management range throughout the 36,000 square metre site, recommending purpose designed solutions for different applications. iFlex provides food-approved, wipe clean workplace protection for temperature controlled storage and distribution facilities, with no ingress points and stainless-steel base plates for hygiene optimization.

Bollards were installed to protect doorway edges from impact and provide visual guidance for traffic, while iFlex Single Traffic Guardrail was installed to safeguard machinery and operational equipment against vehicle traffic. Our installation of iFlex Single Traffic+ ensured that pedestrians were safely segregated from dangerous workplace vehicle traffic and could navigate the facility with peace of mind. Since the installation, A-SAFE has supplied a further two sites for the same retailer with our industry leading solutions.
